Tour overview

The complete pilgrimage day

Some travelers cross an ocean for these hills and want to leave nothing unseen. This is their tour. In eight unhurried hours it gathers every major holy site of the Ephesus valley: the mountain house of the Virgin Mary, the full sweep of Ephesus Ancient City, the lone column of the Temple of Artemis, the basilica and tomb of Saint John, and the serene Seljuk courtyard of Isa Bey Mosque — where the story of faith in this valley continues into another chapter.

Because the day is private, it breathes. There is time to sit in the theater with the Book of Acts, time at the wishing wall, time for a proper lunch and a relaxed artisan visit, and time on Ayasuluk Hill to take in the astonishing view — a Wonder of the World, a Byzantine basilica and a medieval mosque in a single frame.

Highlights

  • All five major sites of the Ephesus valley in one day
  • Scripture readings at the theater, the basilica and Mary's house
  • The Temple of Artemis — the Wonder of the World the silversmiths defended
  • Isa Bey Mosque, the 14th-century jewel built from Ephesian stones
  • A full, unhurried day — no site is rushed
Step by step

Your day, hour by hour

  1. Pickup at your hotel or ship

Meet your private guide and driver. The whole valley of faith lies ahead, and there is no rush in it.

  2. House of Virgin Mary

Early on Bulbul Mountain, when the pines are still quiet — the house, the spring, the wall of wishes, and time to pray.

  3. Ephesus Ancient City

The grand traverse: Odeon, Curetes Street, Temple of Hadrian, the Library of Celsus, the agora of the silversmiths and the Grand Theater of Acts 19.

  4. Lunch & local artisan visit

A leisurely lunch — whatever is local and fresh, cooked by local chefs and cooks — then a friendly visit with local artisans and their handcrafts. Browsing only if you wish; pressure, never.

  5. Temple of Artemis

The single re-erected column of the great temple, with storks nesting on top in season — the most eloquent ruin in Turkey.

  6. Basilica of Saint John

Justinian's great church over the Evangelist's tomb, the baptistery, and the view across the whole valley you have just walked.

  7. Isa Bey Mosque

The day closes in the tranquil arcaded courtyard of the oldest mosque of the area — built in 1375 with columns salvaged from Ephesus itself.

A real advantage of booking with us

Skip the line — we hold your tickets

The single biggest waste of a day at Ephesus is the queue. Book any tour with us and you never stand in one: your guide has the tickets in hand and walks you straight through the priority entrance.

Ephesus fast pass benefits — reserved tickets, quick pass, fast lane entrance and no queueing
Reserved tickets and priority entrance at the Ephesus gates — included on every tour on this site.

Skip the line

Your guide holds your tickets before you arrive. You do not queue at the box office, and you do not queue again at the turnstile.

Fast pass at the busy sites

At Ephesus in cruise season the ticket queue alone can run 30–45 minutes in full sun. Our guests walk past it.

Priority entrance

As a TÜRSAB-licensed agency we hold priority ticketing access at the sites we visit, which is what makes the fast entry possible.

Everywhere we operate

The same applies on every Gezginol tour anywhere in Türkiye — Ephesus, Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and beyond, not only the tours on this site.

The queue is what we remove, not the ticket price: we add nothing on top of it. You pay exactly what the Ministry of Culture and Tourism charges at the gate, your guide simply buys it for you, so you never handle a ticket desk.

Cruise guests welcome

We meet guests from every major cruise line

If your ship calls at Kusadasi or Izmir, chances are we have waited at that gangway before — name card in hand, day planned backwards from your all-aboard time.

Guaranteed pickup at the gangway and back on board in good time — for every ship on this list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is eight hours too long for older travelers?

It is the gentlest of our days, not the hardest — the same sites with more time, more shade and more benches. Many of our happiest guests on this tour are in their seventies and eighties.

Can the Terrace Houses be added?

Yes, easily — the full day has room for them. Just tell your guide; the separate entrance fee applies.

Why is a mosque part of a biblical tour?

Isa Bey Mosque completes the story of faith in this valley — and Mary is deeply venerated in Islam, mentioned by name in the Quran more often than in the New Testament. Guests of every faith find the visit moving. It is, of course, optional.

What does the full day itinerary look like, hour by hour?

Pickup around 8am, the House of Virgin Mary while the mountain is still quiet, then roughly two and a half hours walking Ephesus from the upper gate down to the Grand Theater. Lunch and the artisan visit fill the middle of the day, the Temple of Artemis takes twenty minutes, and the afternoon closes with the Basilica of Saint John and Isa Bey Mosque. Because the day is private, every one of those blocks stretches or shrinks to suit you.

How long do you need to see everything at Ephesus?

Eight hours is the honest answer for the whole valley. The ancient city alone takes two to three hours at a comfortable pace; adding Mary's house, St John's basilica, Artemis and the mosque means real driving between five separate sites. Anyone promising all of it in four hours is promising you a blur.
