Terrace houses or like named by others as houses of the rich, slope houses are located in the middle of the tour walk-path of Ephesus. Earliest of these six houses date back to the first century A.D. but renovations in houses had been going on till the seventh century A.D. till the city was abandoned.
Terrace Houses give us a great detail about lifestyle in ancient times, thanks to high level of preservation. Marble walls of the first house which are considered to be the biggest puzzle of the world, greatly preserved mosaics and frescoes on many walls and ground heating systems of the houses are worth to see. Houses used be two-storied but today most of the roofs are collapsed and only the first levels of houses with living rooms and gardens can be seen.
