Today Saint John's Basilica stands 3.5 kilometers away from Ephesus Ancient City. Building which is visible right now is from sixth century A.D. and as we know it was built in the times of Byzentine Emperor Justinian. Unfortunetly original building where Saint John was burried was replaced with this one but tomb of John is still present over here.
Saint John had many titles such as ''Apostle, Evangelist, Fisherman and Evangelist''. Also he is the known author of the Fourth Gospel and author of Revelation.
Basilica is an excellent example of stonebrick building of it's time. Building has a cross formed architecture and used to have six domes covering it. Also there are huge walls around the church build for protection against attack targeting it and today they give a fortress like look to the building.
